Most constitutional lawsuits are composed by the applicants personally, without an attorney. These submissions, such as many other constitutional lawsuits, very often don’t meet the criteria for filing a constitutional lawsuit prescribed by the Constitutional Law on the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, so it is best to seek the professional help of a lawyer with experience in writing constitutional lawsuits and representation before the Constitutional Court.

The Constitutional Court guarantees respect and application of the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia and bases its activities on the provisions of the Constitution and the Constitutional Law on the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia. It is independent of all state authorities and distributes the funds independently, determined by the state budget.

The procedure before the Constitutional Court is initiated by a written request, proposal, and constitutional complaint – directly to the court or by mail, in the Croatian language and Latin script (with some exceptions), it must be understandable and contain everything necessary to be able to act on it.
